It means lawyer as person who represents his/her client in the court. He speak for his client. Lawyer is a person who provides legal aid and services to the people. Lawyer is a person who looks the client cases and try to seek best remedy for his client.

How to Become a Lawyer ? What to do for being a Lawyer ?

There is only one way for being a lawyer that is getting the degree of bachelor in law. But we can say there are three ways to become a lawyer in Nepal. They are by completing degree of BALLB, BBM LLB and LLB. 

You can do any course for being a lawyer. After completing any courses among them, you become a lawyer after getting lawyering certificate from Nepal Bar Council.

  • +2 passed with any faculty
  • Must secured name in law entrance exam within seat limited

  • +2 passed with any faculty

What to do after getting bachelor degree in law ?

Getting bachelor degree for being a lawyer is not enough to practice in court as lawyer. You can see there are many person who have completed their bachelor degree in law but still not a lawyer. After getting bachelor degree in, you have to also get license of law practitioner from the Bar Council of Nepal.

Nepal Bar Council conduct exams each year for providing license to candidate for practicing law. Anyone who has completed anyone degree among LLB, BALLB and BBM LLB then he/she can participate in Bar Exam.

What is Nepal Bar Council ?

This question what is Nepal Bar Council may be in your mind after listening that you have to get license for practicing law by passing the exam conducted by Nepal Bar Council. That's why I have also discussed in short about Nepal Bar Council.

Nepal Bar Council is an independent body which was established by Nepal Bar Council Act, 2050 BS. It was established to protect, promote and regulates the activities of law practitioner. It determines the code of conduct of lawyer, curriculum for examination and making rules for law practitioner etc.

Nepal Bar Council issues license to law practitioner and take disciplinary actions against lawyer and conduct investigation against lawyers and keep records of legal practitioner if they are contributing for the development of legal profession.
